Fee Schedule

  • I expect payment at time of service and accept cash, checks, credit cards, and care credit.
  • For non-emergencies, there is a $53.55 farm call to come to your farm for most areas in central Vermont.  I am happy to share or reduce the farm charge if you arrange adjacent appointments with close neighbors or group barn visits.
  • I charge an hourly rate of, for most exams and procedures, of $126/hour with a minimum 30 minute charge ($63). Materials and supplies are billed in addition to the veterinarian’s time.
  • Rabies, EWT, WNV vaccines for horses will vary with vaccine prices, but is in the neighborhood of $49/horse for all three vaccines. Flu and rhino(EHV) vaccines are $21-31 per horse. Coggin’s testing (EIA testing) is $25.73 per horse.
  • Floating a horse’s teeth is usually about $29 in materials in addition to the farm call and time charge.  If I am already on the farm, the cost to have a horse’s teeth floated is usually $55-80.  I use gentle, non-excessive sedation for most horses.  Sedation allows the use of a full-mouth speculum to aid in floating your horse’s teeth. A complete dental/oral exam is included in the cost of floating. Because setup and cleanup are part of that fee, it will be less expensive to float the teeth of multiple horses at the same time.
  • Annual vaccinations for cattle, small ruminants, and camelids very by region and use of the animals. For basic backyard livestock, annual vaccinations will run about $9 for goats and sheep, and about $45 per animal for camelids if we are vaccinating against EEE/WEE/WNV, or $9 for tetanus/Clostridial diseases and rabies only. Hoof trimming is available for small ruminants and camelids.
  • Raw Milk Sales in Vermont are tethered to laws that require annual brucellosis and tuberculosis testing, as well as a rabies vaccine.  Tuberculosis testing requires two visits (injection and reading of the injection site.)  I charge a $53.55 farm charge and $126/hr with a min 30 minute farm call fee.  This is $116.55 for a basic, 30 minute visit.  TB testing requires two visits so you would have two basic 30 minute visits.  Brucellosis is $6.30 per animal with $27 for postage to Cornell.  Rabies vaccines are $6.83 per animal.  I can test 1-20 animals in 30 minutes, depending on restraint.  If we have to catch them each from the pasture, it takes longer than if they are all tied and the owner can help restrain them.  For 10 animals that are caught and reasonably restrained, it would cost about $391.40 to get all animals into compliance with raw milk sales requirements.
  • Emergency fees for daytime, evening, night, and weekend emergencies vary from $25-$100.  If I can accomodate your daytime emergency in my schedule, I will not charge you an emergency fee.
